Starting a New Chapter

Sorry for the delay in getting a new blog post out.  There were a couple of things that contributed to the 3 week gap between posts.  First, my computer didn't show up on the container till after we had already been here a week , and second, when I did get my computer up and running everything in Google was stuck in Creole and it took me a couple more days to track down Falens (our interpreter and language teacher) so he could change it back to English.  Enough of the excuses, i'll get down to the important stuff now.

We tried really hard to not have a bunch of bags but we ended up with 11 plus a guitar case.  It turned out that the airlines were very helpful and it ended up not being too much trouble. Alayna was tired of carrying the guitar case by the time we got to the hospital though.
We flew from O Hare to Miami and spent the night in Miami at an Embassy Suites where we met up with Rick and Komari who were coming off a family vacation in  Florida.  The kids did really well going through three airports in 2 days.
The Bahamas to our left as we flew to Port Au Prince!

We made it!  Loading up the Land Cruisers in the PAP (Port Au Prince) airport parking lot.  We met up with the Zimmerman crew in PAP.  They had been in Dumay for the week prior.
Gifts for the kids that our missionary family had waiting of us in our house when we arrived!
 Bags unloaded, now what?
They also had supper ready and waiting for us!  It was so nice to sit down to a hot meal and then go straight to bed.

Our first look at our backyard in the morning light

Starting to unpack.  No idea where to put anything! Once we had it all stuffed into closets, "does anyone know where.....?"

Getting some help cleaning kitchen cabinets and such.  Marvin & Nancy Dotterer were at HL so Nancy came up and spent most of a day giving us a hand!  Thanks Nancy!
Playtime in the driveway!

Visiting the Plattner and Aberle kids at school during recess to see what it's all about
It didn't take long to find the escape hole in the gate!

Ct found his first gecko!
Henry working in the garden.  Trying to beat Kevin Coffee!
I had to take a pic since they were sitting still!
The finished garden.  High hopes, low expectations!
Discovering the leaf bug
Ready for our first Haitian church service
All these photos were before our stuff arrived on the container.  We didn't have a lot to do but clean the house and try and prepare for our household supplies.  I'll post those pictures on the next blog post in a day or two.  Also, i'll try and get posts out sooner now that we are getting settled in!  Thanks for all those that read and post a comment.

Love,
 the Nussbaums
